Story 27 of 52 /// Today was exhausting

“Are they asleep?”
“They are. Finally. Today was exhausting.”
“I know sweetheart. I’m really proud of the three of you pulling through another day. What did you do today?”
“We went to the local library. Their selection of international books is limited, but the kids were thrilled as it has wifi. They could not video call anyone due to the time difference, but they sent loads of messages. There is a nice cafe there also, so we’re probably going to go back tomorrow.”
“I will see if I can ask a colleague tomorrow if they can help us get the temporary internet sorted. My project member is really helpful in getting me sorted out at work, so I think I could maybe ask them. It just feels awkward having to ask this and not being able to pay him back until we get our bank account sorted.”
“Can’t you ask your manager? Or the global mobility team? It’s only 75 euros.”
“They have already done so much for us. I really don’t want to give anyone the feeling we’re not satisfied with the package.”
“I know. It’s just that it would make things so much easier for the kids. They could call their friends early morning, when it’s evening back home. It’s already so hard on them, and it feels like we’re letting them down on our promise that they could call home whenever they wanted.”
“I’m sorry dear, I know exactly how you feel.”
